Flag Lane Artist Live-Work Studios

2009 | Cork
Theoretical infill project for artist studios with sleeping accommodation. The site is located in the medieval center of Cork City and contained a medieval lane to the rear and fronted Kyle Street which links North Main Street and the Coal Quay.  The medieval Flag Lane has lost is route to North Main Street. This proposal aimed to open the historic lane to the public realm. A ground level Cafe-Kitchen/Canteen was proposed to facilitate the new connection between Kyle Street and Flag Lane.

The Flag Lane Elevation faces North and was optimized for natural lighting to the studio spaces. The Flag Lane Elevation was designed to compliment the historic street facade and to allow for delivery of large materials and exiting of large works via lifting hoists and timber folding/sliding doors at all levels. The Western Roof was optimized for private open space and laundry.
